VINYL DESIGN – CONCEPTUAL DESIGN -PRINT

Brief

This was my first collaboration with the danish acid rock band Syreregn who wanted a cover that represented their sound, through organic and unique surreal texture/patterns spanning four sides of a gatefold cover,

Challenge

The overall challenge of this project was to create unique patters that made room for title, images, track list. Another challenge was to create a readable yet surreal logotype that blended into the pattern.

Solution

The final design contains four The pattern unique, drawn through automation. e.g.  me sitting down for approximately 3 to 5 hours with coffee and vinyls on the recordplayer.

Cogito Ergo Sum (2019)

Brief

Syreregn contacted me in 2017 they me to help them design a gatefold cover for their concept album revolving around artificial intelligence and the conflicting relationship between man and machine.

Challenge

Creating a stylistic album cover that unify the duality of man vs. machine was an interesting challenge.

As the last cover art i made for Syreregn was surreal and expressionistic, I aimed at creating a simplistic layout and design that put emphasis on

Solution

The band and I agreed on a visual concept inspired album consisting of elements representing the duality of man vs. machine.

In the final work, Man is represented through anatomical drawings of the human musculature, symbolizing our vulnerability compared to machines.

The artificial is machines are represented through geometrically perfect shapes, given a “worn” texture questioning whether they are as infinite and flawless as we envision.

Inner design:
The flawless perfection is what we as humans seek to obtain.

Front design:
Man and machine in questionable unity.

Disc label design:
Alpha – Machine
Beta – Human.
